Leftover keypad after buying a Naples house? Photograph it before you pull it
You closed on a Naples house and there is a keypad in the hallway. Maybe it still has a faded sticker. Maybe the screen is dark. Maybe the last owner said “the alarm is there, you just call somebody.” None of that is monitoring. A leftover keypad is equipment. ADT monitoring is a service you order. Home Security Systems Naples takes that order on (239) 439-6005. SafeStreets is the ADT Authorized Provider that installs or reactivates. ADT monitors 24/7.
Photograph the panel before you pry it off the drywall. That is the whole first instruction. A picture tells a specialist whether we can often keep the equipment, whether we are looking at a builder leftover, or whether the cleanest path is a new professionally installed system. Pulling it first turns a one-visit reactivation into a patch job and a full replace.
Photograph it before anyone pulls it, paints it, or “resets” it
Take three photos: the keypad straight on, the keypad with the cover off if it opens without tools, and the utility closet, laundry board, or lanai closet if you can see a metal can or a bundle of wire. Include the brand on the plastic if there is one. Include any account number sticker. Do not reset anything. Do not call a random 800 number on the sticker and “cancel” an account you do not own. You just bought the house. You do not yet know whether that account is live, dead, or in someone else’s name.
There is no form on this site. You bring the photos to the 239 call. The specialist looks at them while you say the ZIP. 34102 Old Naples is not 34116 Golden Gate. 34103 Park Shore is not 34108 Pelican Bay. 34145 Marco Island is not a City of Naples form. The photo plus the ZIP is the start of the quote.
If a painter is coming tomorrow and wants the hallway clean, photograph tonight. A painted-over hole is not a reason to skip monitoring. It is a reason the technician may be hanging a new panel instead of keeping the old one. That can still be a $99 install* on many plans. It is just no longer the fastest path. If a snowbird seller already flew north and left the panel hanging, photograph it anyway. An empty house is not a reason to yank plastic “so it looks nicer for the furniture delivery.”
What a leftover panel actually is in this market
Sometimes it is a prior owner’s professionally installed system that was never taken off the wall. Sometimes it is a builder “included alarm” from a Golden Gate, Lely, or Estates plat — a keypad that satisfied a closing checklist and was never put on 24/7 monitoring. Sometimes it is a DIY kit the last owner abandoned after a season. Those three things look similar from the sofa. They are not the same job.
A prior professionally installed panel can often be reactivated or reused. A builder leftover can often be reused too, once someone actually orders monitoring. A dead DIY kit is more often a replace. The photo is how we stop guessing. The quote is how you hear whether this is a reactivation or a new SafeStreets install.
The leftover panel is not “free ADT.” ADT is the monitoring company after the system is live on an agreement. SafeStreets has to see the hardware, test it, and connect it. Until that happens, the keypad is décor. A thief does not care that the last owner meant to call. A yard sign in the bougainvillea does not care either. A builder leftover is usually not ADT. Say that out loud if the listing said “alarm included.” Included plastic is not 24/7.
Park Shore condos: do not pull a panel until you know who owns it
Park Shore 34103 closings leave hallway keypads in condos and in houses. A condo panel can be three different things: the last owner’s system, a board-owned device you are not allowed to touch, or a tenant kit that never should have been on a homeowner promotion. House versus condo is a quote question. Do not pull a condo panel until you know who owns it. Photograph it. Call (239) 439-6005. Bring the association rules if cameras or hallway devices are restricted.
Two doors and a lanai is a real job even when the building has a gate. The gate is not monitoring. The leftover keypad is not monitoring. Indoor sensors plus ADT 24/7 is still a complete system when the board limits street-facing cameras. The Moorings, Coquina Sands, and Lake Park mixed blocks have the same pattern: leftover plastic, association language, packages on the stoop. Count the lanai. Say condo if it is a condo.
If the association already has a “building system,” that is not this quote until someone confirms you can add or replace a unit system. We will not fight a board on a 239 call. We will tell you whether SafeStreets can professionally install inside the unit you own. Promotional offers are for homeowners. Tenants cannot use them. A lockbox guest is not the owner.
Golden Gate new-builds: the option sheet was not ADT
Golden Gate 34116 and Golden Gate Estates 34117 / 34120 are where we see builder leftovers every week. The keypad was in the option sheet. The builder’s sub hung it. Nobody ordered monitoring. The closing list said “alarm.” You moved in and assumed ADT was already watching. It was not. A builder leftover is usually not ADT. Photograph it. Order monitoring. Same-day or next-day when the calendar is open is how that plastic becomes a live system instead of a hallway ornament.
Lely, Lely Resort, Fiddler’s Creek, IslandWalk, The Quarry, Orangetree, and TwinEagles repeat the same builder pattern with different street names. Longer lots hide a lanai cage, a garage walk-through, and a golf-cart bay. Count those openings. Do not assume the builder’s motion in the great room covers the slider. Do not assume the smoke detector on the leftover panel is a Secure+ life-safety device that ADT can see. Ask for a test.
New-construction drywall is easy to patch if we replace. It is also easy to ruin if you yank a panel the week before the painter. Photograph first. If the house is still empty because you have not left Ohio yet, say the occupancy date. We would rather hang monitoring the week you sleep there than the week the tile guy wants the hallway empty.
Pelican Bay leftover plastic is not the gate, and it is not ADT
Pelican Bay, Bay Colony, and Vanderbilt Beach 34108 units collect leftover keypads from snowbird sellers who stopped paying monitoring years ago and left the plastic. The gate at Pelican Bay is not a monitoring center. The board’s camera rule is not a Collier registration. The keypad in the foyer is not ADT until you order ADT. Photograph it. Say house versus condo. Say cameras yes or no knowing some boards will say no to outdoor video. Indoor sensors still work.
Grey Oaks, Mediterra, Quail West, and Pelican Marsh sound like Pelican Bay on leftover panels and like Golden Gate on lot size. Golf-cart bays and lanai sliders are the openings people forget. A caretaker with a code from the last owner is not a call list ADT can use until you put that caretaker on your agreement. Change the code after closing. Then order monitoring so the new code actually means something.
If you only winter here, the leftover panel is how people talk themselves into waiting until November. Empty May-through-October hours are the reason to order now. A dark keypad all summer is not a plan. Arm the system when you fly north. That sentence belongs on this leftover article because the plastic on the wall is what people point at while they do nothing.
Old Naples cottages: prior owners, more openings, same photo
Old Naples, Port Royal, Aqualane Shores, Royal Harbor, and Lake Park 34102 houses more often have a prior owner’s panel than a builder leftover. Maybe it was monitored last season. Maybe it was monitored in 2019 and the account died at closing. Maybe the last owner self-monitored on a phone app and left the plastic. We can often keep sensors that still work. We do not keep a dead account in someone else’s name. You order a new agreement. Typically 36 months at promotional rates. Early termination fees apply. Credit approval applies. Offers are for homeowners.
Older openings hide a side porch, a courtyard door, and a dock-side door. Count them. Photograph the keypad and the closet board. Impact glass and shutters do not remove the need for a contact on a door you actually use. A cottage with four openings is a different job from a Port Royal house with a dock. Architecture language does not set the price. The photo plus the openings do.
Packages still sit on Old Naples and Coquina Sands stoops. A leftover keypad does not mean a doorbell is already included. Complete+ is the video conversation at $74.99/mo*. Many plans stay at a $99 install* if you are not ordering a camera grid. Ask. Indoor first. Video if you want it and the board allows it.
Do not cancel what you do not own
The sticker on the keypad may still show a dealer that is not SafeStreets and is not this site. Calling that number and “canceling ADT” because you bought the house is how people accidentally hang up on a live account, or fail to hang up on an account that was already dead, or start a fight with a company about equipment you just painted over. Photograph. Call (239) 439-6005. Let the specialist tell you what the photo is.
If the last owner’s monitoring is still live, that is a transfer conversation, not a vandalism conversation. If it is dead, it is a new order. If it was never monitored, it is a first order that happens to have a head start on wire. Those three sentences save a Saturday. They also save you from telling Naples Police or the Collier County Sheriff that you are the alarm user on a system that is still in the seller’s name.
City of Naples false-alarm rules and Collier County registration are separate paper after the system is yours. The last owner’s confirmation email is not your registration. File in your name after we make the system live. City versus Collier alarm paper is that desk. Do not skip it because a sticker is already on the plastic. We have not found a published annual City of Naples user-permit dollar amount. Do not invent $15. Unincorporated Collier requires the owner to register with the Sheriff’s False Alarm Bureau.
Reactivate versus replace is a quote, not a hallway guess
You will still hear a monthly number, an install charge, and the agreement length. Promotional packages start at $53.99/mo* for ADT Secure+, then Smart+ $63.99*, Complete+ $74.99*. Many plans have a $99 install*. A leftover panel does not automatically make the monthly number $0. Monitoring is the product. Equipment reuse can keep the install in the $99 conversation. Cameras you add on Complete+ can still raise the install. Ask.
Have the same facts you would have for a blank wall: ZIP, house versus condo, rough door and slider count, cameras yes or no. Then the photos. If the last owner left a binder, bring the account number but do not assume it is still good. If the house is empty because you have not moved from the Midwest yet, say the occupancy date. Same-day or next-day is common in Greater Naples when the calendar is open.
How much ADT is in Naples is the plan math. The leftover does not invent a fifth plan. It changes whether we reuse hardware. How to order is the 239 process. There is no form on contact that schedules the truck.
Sensors on the doors may still be good; the dusty detector may not
A hallway keypad is the part people see. The useful parts are often the contacts on the front door, the lanai slider, and the garage walk-through. If those still close a circuit, a technician can save time. If a prior owner painted over a window contact, we will find it. If a short-term renter (not you — this promotion is for homeowners) yanked a sensor on the way out, we will replace it. The walkthrough is how we know. The photo is how we guess well enough to quote.
Smoke and CO are a Secure+ conversation even if the old panel had a dusty detector that has not been tested since the last inspection. Do not assume the leftover life-safety device is still a life-safety device. Ask for a test. Pay the $53.99* if you want that sensor on the same center that watches the doors. Hurricane-season humidity and a summer-empty house are hard on old detectors. Test beats hope.
Glass-break and motion are extras people forget were never there. A leftover keypad does not mean the dining-room window is covered. Count openings. Old Naples cottages and Estates lanais have more of them than the hallway suggests. A golf-cart bay is a door. A dock-side door is a door. A cage door that nobody latches is still an opening if you asked us to cover it.
Neighborhood leftover patterns we actually see
Park Shore and The Moorings: condo hallway panels, association questions, two doors and a lanai. Photograph. Do not pull. House versus condo on the call.
Golden Gate, Estates, Lely, IslandWalk, The Quarry: builder leftovers, option-sheet myths, garages, lanai cages, golf carts. Builder leftover is usually not ADT. Order monitoring.
Pelican Bay, Bay Colony, Vanderbilt, Grey Oaks, Mediterra: snowbird-seller plastic, gate-is-not-monitoring, camera limits. Indoor sensors still work. Change the caretaker code.
Old Naples, Port Royal, Aqualane, Royal Harbor, Coquina Sands, Lake Park: prior-owner panels, more openings, dock doors, stoop packages. Photograph the closet board. Count the slider.
Marco Island 34145 and Bonita Springs 34134: different city halls, same leftover problem, same 239 call. Confirm the office. Do not file City of Naples paper on a Marco house because the keypad sticker said Naples.
Immokalee and Ave Maria: leftover builder or prior-owner plastic on a different utility more often than not. Confirm ZIP 34142. Photograph anyway. The keypad does not tell you FPL versus LCEC. The bill does. Cellular backup is the outage article. Ask it on the leftover call too.
What we will not do with a leftover
We will not promise that every builder panel becomes ADT on the first visit. Some hardware is not worth keeping. We will not take a photo by email as a substitute for the 239 call — the call is the order. We will not file City of Naples paper or Collier registration for you. We will not tell a Golden Gate buyer to use a City of Naples form. We will not invent a $15 city user permit. We will not take a tenant order on a homeowner promotion. We will not hide the 36-month agreement because “the keypad was already there.”
We will not tell you to smash the panel so the next owner starts fresh. That is how you buy drywall and lose a reactivation. We will not tell you a dark screen means the house is unprotected in a way that requires a same-hour emergency. Order on the next open calendar. Same-day or next-day is the usual window in Greater Naples when the calendar is open. Panic is not the product. A live agreement is.
We will not treat a short-term rental leftover as a homeowner reactivation promo. If paying guests use the keypad, say so. Offers are for homeowners. A lockbox is not a call list. Occupancy is the product. Empty hours are why you call. The leftover is only how we start the hardware conversation.
After the photo: the 239 intake, said once
Call (239) 439-6005. ZIP first. House versus condo. Cameras yes or no. Leftover keypad photos. You will hear whether we think this is a reactivation or a replace, a monthly number from the four promotional plans, an install that is $99* on many plans, and a 36-month monitoring agreement with early termination fees. You will hear which office files the alarm paper. You will hear a date when the calendar is open.
Walk the house with the technician. Test the lanai, the garage, and every door you paid for. Put a caretaker or a neighbor on the call list if you fly north. File the paper the quote named. Arm the system. The plastic on the wall was never the product. Home Security Systems Naples takes the order. SafeStreets installs or reactivates. ADT monitors 24/7. Photograph it before you pull it.
